Following an old European tradition, eight letterboxes have now been placed in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands. To find letterboxes, follow directions provided on cards at the North and South Gate kiosks, or download by clicking Letterbox Clues.
Inside the wooden letterbox, you’ll find a waterproof box with supplies for recording your visit. Follow the directions at the tops of the clue cards.
Sign in on the Trust guest register on the South Gate Kiosk (and write “Letterboxer”), and be invited to a special event as official Wildlands Letterboxers.
Thanks to Hans Krichels (Coordinator of the KidsGiveBack Forestry Program at KidsPeace New England) and Brian McGinley (Coordinator of Therapeutic Recreation at KidsPeace), who worked with Workshop Wizard Bruce Ames and KidsPeace kids to manufacture and place the Letterboxes starting last fall. The goal is to encourage every kid in Hancock County and beyond to experience the Wildlands.
